Her First Doll...of many...

It is such a proud moment in a mothers life when her daughter takes hold of that very first dolly. I myself had many many many years of dolls. Baby Dolls, Preemies, a few Cabbage Patch, Barbies, Paper Dolls, Porcelain Dolls, American Dolls. Come to think of it, if you want to know what stage of childhood a girl is in, take a look at her current doll.

Leah took ahold of her first doll a few weeks ago, and LOVES holding it, sucking on it, looking at it, rattling it...this is the start of many many years of dolls. Thank you Aunt Debbie for Leah's First Doll.

I personally can not wait to pull out the American Dolls from my childhood to give to Leah to love for years. It will be such a pleasure to take her to the American Girl store in Chicago in a few years to let her pick out clothes for her dolls.

Leah already glued to the TV

It is crazy how at a little over 3 month old Leah is paying attention to the tv. In the morning before work and when we get home I let her watch a little tv. It really keeps her entertained. She will sit there and laugh, and coo, and kick her feet to the different things on tv. Last night she even fell asleep watching tv. What a terrible mom! I'm already putting my kid in front of the tv!
It tickles me how she watches it, and laughs. I think being in front of the tv is helping her learn to speak. Because when she is watching tv she does the most cooing, trying to mimic the sounds and voices she hears.
At least at this age I do not have to monitor what is on...

Look - 2 hands!

I just had to take some photos tonight.
Leah was holding her bottle up herself with both hands.
What a big girl!

The verdict is in- Leah looks like her daddy!

After going through a few photos of Rick when he was a baby, I think I have found the photos that show the closest resemblance of each other.

Leah looks like her daddy when he was a baby!

Leah turns 3 months old today!

My baby is 3 months old today!

Today Leah turns 3 months old!

Leah is growing so fast. The developmental milestones this month are incredible. Leah is holding her head up, trying to pull herself up when she is in the reclined position. She is holding her toys and blankets and watching as those tiny hand move everything around. She loves to hold onto her blankies and pull them up to her eyes to look at the different patterns. Of course she discovered her hands and fingers and how well they fit in her mouth. Leah loves getting those fingers in her mouth. It is funny when she is sucking on her hand and uses the otherone to help get the first one in further.
Leah is at her best in the morning and afternoon. She loves to look around at people and objects, and loves to laugh when people smile at her, as you can see from her 3 month old photos which were taken today.

Melt Your Heart...Baby

This is a recent recap of how my child melted my heart the other night...

Daddy was out of the house for the evening, having a good time at a local school picnic with a friend of our. Momma decided to stay home with baby Leah. About bedtime (8ish) I decided to try to put Leah down for the night, and so off we were, rocking away in the living room rocking chair. About 9pm Leah was sawing logs...or catching flies... with her mouth wide open. Her pacifier had fallen out of her mouth indicating she was sound asleep. So, I decided to put her to bed. I went into the bedroom, left all the lights off and laid her in her bed. With a little time left to catch the end of my program I joined Lily in the living room to wait for Daddy to come home. About 10 minutes into watching TV I started hearing things, like someone talking. I muted the tv, and sure enough, Leah had woken up, and was just laying there, in the dark, talking to herself. It was so sweet. I crept in the bedroom, and quietly laid on the bed to listen. There she was, looking at, playing with, and sucking her hands just talking away. It brought tears to my eyes. What a precious quiet moment - her there, just talking to herself.

During the day she laughs, and coos here or there, but this was full blown gibber gabber in a little quite, petite baby voice. Then she would laugh at herself and kick, and talk some more, and suck her hands, and go back to talking. Eventually she cried and wanted Momma – but it was such a sweet little thing, and so funny with her just talking to herself in the dark.

So, the precious moment fades, and Leah decides she isn't quite ready for bed yet. She got up and we played for about 45 more minutes on the floor. Then I took her to bed with me to watch tv and she laid there playing with her hands again, and every once in a while I would look at her in between watching tv and she just had her eyes on me, then go back to her hands, then me – just to make sure I was there or something. It was cute. We had a good night! That right there is the reason to stay home instead of always running here and there. Slow down, and take in the precious moments...
